On March 11, 2008, the Alzheimer's Study Group met to discuss the leading Alzheimer's related issues and challenges that confront the nation. As a first step to creating a plan, the ASG retained Booz Allen Hamilton to create an assessment on the state of Alzheimer's disease in the United States. This document, along with a briefing deck overview of Alzheimer's, an overview of the prevalence of Alzheimer's in the United States, and an overview of the cost burden of Alzheimer's were prepared by Booz Allen Hamilton in support of the March 11th ASG Leadership Meeting.
ASG staff also conducted interviews with 20 experts based on 16 goals, who were also invited to submit Power Point Decks summarizing the goals they were addressing. From these interviews, ASG staff pulled challenges to add to those taken from an extensive literature review and those submitted by a community of experts.
Below is a link to all the documents provided to the ASG prior to the meeting, the agenda with hyperlinks to presentations and the raw list of challenges, a summary of the meeting, and the specific challenges that the ASG has decided to focus on in the next phase of their work together.
